Our Vision

To create a world where gender expansive and transgender children are safe, supported, and loved.

Transgender and nonbinary youth are at nearly a 50% risk of attempting suicide by the age of 18.

A supportive home is the single most important factor in leading these children to thrive into adulthood. Through education, advocacy, and connection with parents and caregivers, we can create the community these children need and change the statistics.

Our Work

Educate

We provide guidance to walk parents and caregivers through the journey of embracing their child’s gender identity. This guidance provides a path to creating an inclusive home, introducing your child to family and friends, and safely entering school and youth organizations. Equally, it acknowledges the many feelings, mistakes, fears, and misconceptions that are faced along the way.

Empower

We work with families of transgender and nonbinary children to empower them with the tools and resources needed to be successful advocates for their children in their schools and their community. This is accomplished by utilizing partnerships with schools, youth organizations, and connections with other non-profits and professionals serving the LGBTQ+ population.

Connect

We gather the information to connect parents and caregivers to the additional resources and experts available to them, including family support groups. medical professionals, legal advocates and crisis services.

Our Story

TransParent Alliance was born from the idea that a trail must only be blazed once. As parents and caregivers step into this journey, we can follow the footsteps of those who came before us. Through that experience, we can grow and learn from one another and continue to create an environment where our children feel safe, supported, and loved.

Our Team

  • Stacy Elling

Stacy has followed the lead of her child since the day she was born. The way her daughter looked at the world opened Stacy’s eyes and reframed her perspective on so many things. Mainstream resources weren’t much help in navigating some of the unique milestones. Her family felt alone. With a career in organizational development and years of experience serving in various roles within the non-profit sector, she knew there was more that could be done to make this experience easier for other families.

  • Lee Stoffel

Lee is a mom, a wife, a friend, a big sister and an ally. Through her friendships with parents of trans and non-binary youth, she has embraced the role of friend, ally, and LGBTQIA+ advocate. She believes fiercely that all children should be safe, respected and seen in their true identity throughout society. Lee is a communications professional by trade, working the past 14 years in municipal government. She is known for being authentic, inclusive, and thoughtful in her communications style.
